Just over a week ago, we found out about Google’s interest in acquiring Wiz, a cybersecurity startup, for no less than 23 billion dollars. However, it seems that what was set to become the tech giant’s largest purchase to date will not happen, not by Google’s decision, but because Wiz has rejected the offer.
Despite the attractiveness of the deal, as it represents an amount nearly double the valuation obtained by Wiz (12 billion dollars) in its last funding round, the company’s management team has decided to remain independent. This decision has also been supported by the investors.
Wiz’s upcoming plans include focusing on an initial public offering, as previously proposed. Additionally, they aim to achieve an annual recurring revenue of 1 billion dollars.
Assaf Rappaport, co-founder and CEO of Wiz, sent an email to the company’s 1,200 employees worldwide stating: “While we feel flattered by the offers we have received, we have chosen to continue our own path to build Wiz.”
In the email, Rappaport, in addition to thanking his employees for their work, explains that although it is difficult to turn down such offers (Google’s name is not explicitly mentioned at any point), “with our exceptional team, I feel confident in making that decision. The market validation we have experienced following this news only reinforces our goal: to create a platform that both security and development teams love. We are grateful for the trust our employees, investors, and customers have in us as we build the best cybersecurity company in the world.”
This security company is used by large enterprises such as Asos, Fox, Siemens, and Salesforce. Wiz offers a centralized cloud security platform for complete control. This enables a company’s security, development, and DevOps teams to work together, aligned towards the same goal. In this way, all operations will be benefited and optimized thanks to this autonomous model.
Among some of Wiz’s most notable functions are:
Regarding its pricing, Wiz offers personalized plans. To get an approximate idea of how much it might cost to implement Wiz in your company, you only need to fill out a form, although you can also request a demo. Additionally, Wiz offers two different work licenses to ensure flexibility and meet your needs. This work licenses depends on the cloud workloads of your business: compute, data, and runtime sensor workloads.
