Google Lens continues to evolve and now introduces two major updates that will make visual search even easier across different applications and devices.
If you are an iPhone user, you can now use Google Lens to search for any visible element on your screen within Chrome or the Google app, without needing to take a screenshot or open a new tab. A simple gesture—such as drawing, highlighting, or tapping on the content—will be enough.
To access this feature in Chrome, simply open the three-dot menu and select “Search screen with Google Lens.” In the coming months, a Lens icon will also appear in the address bar, similar to what has been available on the desktop version since last year.
In the Google app for iOS, the process is similar: tap the three-dot menu, select “Search this screen,” and choose what you want to search for.
This update will roll out globally this week in Chrome and the Google app for iOS.
Google Lens has identified billions of objects thanks to its database of images indexed on the web. Now, with support from advanced artificial intelligence models, Lens will be able to provide even more detailed information about new or unique images.
With this improvement, AI Overviews will appear more frequently in Lens search results, without requiring users to ask additional questions.
For example, if you come across a car with an unusual texture and want to learn more, simply open Lens from the Google search bar and take a photo. The AI Overview will provide a quick response, along with relevant links for deeper exploration.
This feature will roll out this week for English-speaking users in countries where AI Overviews are available, starting in the Google app for Android and iOS and soon expanding to Chrome on desktop and mobile devices.
