Instagram has announced a new wave of updates aimed at offering a more flexible and enriched experience. The social network is demonstrating that it is possible to fulfill the resolutions set at New Year’s, as it has continuously released functions throughout this 2025 geared towards enhancing activity and interaction.
It is worth noting that some of the changes presented had already been mentioned by Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, in January of this year.
Instagram will provide the option to rearrange your posts on your Feed grid so you have greater creative control over how your content is displayed. This means that now the arrangement of your posts will depend on you and not the chronological order in which you have published them.
Until now, when you made a post on Instagram, it would inevitably appear in the “For You” feed. This has just changed, as the Meta-owned social network will give you the option to choose whether your post is displayed openly or if you prefer it to only appear directly on your Feed grid.
This is a new feature especially targeted at those who do not place too much importance on results within the platform, viewing Instagram more as a memory journal.
At the end of 2024, Mosseri announced the deployment of “trial reels” or “test reels” for users with professional accounts. Half a year later, the CEO of Instagram has informed that this functionality is now available to all creators.
Additionally, he has taken the opportunity to share some performance data: “Creators not only feel free to publish reels more frequently, but they are also seeing results: after trying test reels, 40% began posting reels more often and, of those who did, 80% saw an increase in the reach of the reels among non-followers.”
Instagram strengthens its ties with Spotify by launching a new integration that allows users to share any song they are listening to on Spotify directly in Notes. With this feature, the social network aims to help users share their musical tastes with others and foster connections based on common interests.
Instagram has partnered with none other than Rosalía to launch a new typeface inspired by her handwriting. It will be available in Stories and Reels.
Finally, the platform has announced Drafts, an initiative that seeks to support and invest in emerging talent. Instagram aims to become a key space for the development of artists’ and creators’ careers, thus wanting to remove barriers and actively stand by their side.
“Today we launch Drafts, a new initiative that will invest in emerging talent and support creators and artists at crucial moments in their careers. We will partner with the next generation of creative voices, such as Tyrell Hampton, Young Emperors, Sailorr, and Jake Fleming, to provide them with the financial support, connections, co-ideation, and collaboration opportunities they need to bring their creative projects to life.”
