Instagram has introduced Restyle, a new video editing feature powered by its generative AI Movie Gen. The company has already activated it in Edits, the Meta AI app, and the Meta.AI website in the United States and a dozen other countries.
As is usual, Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, has shared a video explaining this novelty, showcasing usage examples, and expressing his enthusiasm for it. In addition, he has confirmed that they are working to introduce Restyle to Instagram soon.

At the end of 2024, Mosseri had already hinted that Instagram was working on new AI-based video features and planned to officially launch them in 2025. This idea has materialized into Restyle, an AI-driven video editing tool that allows users to change the context, characters, and elements of 10-second clips easily while maintaining the quality of the audiovisual piece.
In this initial stage, Restyle includes more than 50 editing options that you will be able to apply for free for a limited time. The main creative possibilities offered by Restyle are:
This feature is available through Edits, the Meta AI app, and the Meta.AI website. To use it, all you need to do is access one of these platforms, upload a video, select the “Restyle” option and choose from the pre-set editing effects to transform your video.
Once your video is ready, from Edits and the Meta AI app, you will have the option to share it directly on Instagram and Facebook. Furthermore, from the Meta AI app and the Meta.AI website, you can share it directly in the Discover feed.
Meta has confirmed that this is just an initial step towards its goal of fully integrating generative AI into its products. “Inspired by our Movie Gen models, this new feature is just the first step towards our goal of offering AI video generation and editing across all our apps and products. By the end of this year, you will be able to edit videos alongside Meta AI with your own text prompts to make your video edits exactly as you imagine them.”
