Google Analytics has integrated a new feature designed to evaluate consent management within your data streams. This is based on a scoring system that allows us to determine whether our consent configuration respects the user’s freedom to set their preferences regarding cookies and application identifiers.
Consent Mode allows you to comply with regulations regarding privacy and data usage, for example, the GDPR in the European Union. This tool “receives your users’ consent preferences from the cookie banner or widget you use and dynamically adapts the behavior of Analytics, Google Ads, and third-party tags that create or read cookies,” explains Google.
Now, the technology company has integrated a feature that scores the consent signals obtained for each data stream, making it easier to identify potential implementation issues. Currently, only two ratings are applied: Excellent or Good.
If Google determines that your consent configuration is only “Good,” the performance of your ads and your attribution data may decline. The company is placing increased emphasis on privacy compliance and may block conversion tracking for those who do not implement Consent Mode correctly.
