The United States elections are not merely a local event; they have become a global affair. Countries around the world closely follow who will become the president of one of the world’s major economic powers—Trump or Kamala?

For this electoral campaign, influencers and famous personalities in the United States have played a significant role.

Whom celebrities support in the United States elections

Looking at major public figures, we see Beyoncé expressing her support for Kamala Harris, along with Taylor Swift, George Clooney and Selena Gómez. On the other hand, singers like Nicky Jam and Anuel AA, along with Elon Musk have openly shown his support for Trump.

However, it is not only celebrities who have shown their stance; influencers and content creators have done so as well. Both the Republican and Democratic parties have employed influencer marketing strategies to encourage voters to choose them at the polls.

As we all know, a significant portion of information flows through social media, and many people follow various content creators, often viewing them as role models.

Mikey Angelo, a content creator known for his comedic videos featuring rap songs, stepped out of character in one of his latest videos to call on the public to vote. In this post, he tagged Priorities USA and Somos Votantes, both Democratic organizations.

Political parties can pay influencers for promotion in the U.S

Does this mean he was paid to make that video? In the United States, this type of content is not regulated. In other words, content creators are not required to disclose whether their support for one candidate or another on social media is part of a paid collaboration. The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has ruled that political campaigns can publish videos and hire influencers to promote them, as well as pay individuals to create promotional content in support of a candidate.

In this case, Mikey Angelo uses the hashtag #partners and tags two organizations affiliated with Kamala Harris’s party, indicating that this is indeed a paid collaboration. CNN has confirmed this: “Angelo’s post is part of a $2.7 million digital campaign from Democratic political action committee Priorities USA, which has contributed to election efforts for Harris

These elections have already been labeled in various media outlets as The Influencer Election” due to the significant influence these personalities can exert on the public. Influencers tend to be more relatable, and citizens may identify with them “because they are regular people just like themselves.” Even Kai Cenat mentioned that he had been approached by a political party to campaign, an offer he declined.

Another influencer who has shown support for one of the candidates is Jake Paul, who has been seen publicly with Donald Trump.

Another content creator actively campaigning in support of the Democratic Party is Liza Koshy, who has done this before. She previously showed support for former President Barack Obama and is now doing the same for Kamala Harris. She is even creating humorous content by impersonating Kamala and encouraging her more than 20 million followers to vote.

Liza Koshy started her carreer in 2013 in Vine, before she created her own YouTube channel.
