Instagram is testing a feature to repost posts on the Feed

Meta's social network plans to introduce the option to republish posts from other individuals or old personal publications in the Feed.

This year, 2025, the offices of Instagram are a constant hotbed of ideas, as the social network does not stop presenting updates to encourage its use and remain in the competitive Olympus of social platforms. The latest innovation we have heard about is still in the testing phase, but it represents a noteworthy change in its dynamics: the republication of posts.

Instagram plans to allow you to republish your old posts or those of others

It is common for Instagram to test its features before officially launching them by activating them for a limited selection of accounts. It is even more common for users who detect these changes to share them on their social networks. This is what has allowed us to know that Instagram is considering introducing the possibility of reposting publications from other people in our Feed and also republishing our own content.

How can you repost other people posts? Well, this will be displayed with the typical icon of two arrows chasing each other and forming a square, and it will be located under the posts, alongside the “like,” comment, and share buttons.

And, if this were not enough, the media outlet TechCrunch has claimed that Instagram confirmed to them that they are working on this functionality. The introduction of this option to the Posts Feed would be an attempt by the Meta social network to amplify the reach of posts and stimulate activity.

Additionally, it is worth noting that tools already exist for republishing content on Instagram, such as Regram, for example. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before Meta decided to offer this feature directly to further enhance its platform’s capabilities.

However, considering that options such as shared posts or the ability to share others’ stories or posts in Stories already exist, it may seem that this feature will not be a major revolution.

Moreover, it should be kept in mind that Instagram is not Twitter or Threads, platforms whose characteristics do justify the existence of a repost option. However, we are lately witnessing, with a certain degree of weariness, how the giants dominating social networks are creating an increasingly homogeneous landscape, obsessively integrating all features across all platforms.
