Instagram is experimenting with a new feature that lets users explore a curated list of reels their friends have liked. According to Instagram’s CEO, Adam Mosseri, this feature is intended “to make the social media experience not just passive but also interactive and social, allowing users to truly engage with their interests alongside their friends.”
This initiative is in line with Instagram’s goals for 2025, which emphasize encouraging creativity and connection. Instagram aims to foster discovery and conversations about reels that are of shared interest between users and their friends.
“We want Instagram to be more than just a place for consuming entertaining content. We aspire for it to be a space where you connect with friends through what you watch,” Mosseri explains. “Now, when you navigate to the Reels section, you’ll find a dedicated feed showcasing reels your friends have liked or commented on.”
To access this feature, simply go to the Reels section and click on the button located in the upper right-hand corner of your screen, which features your friends’ icons. From there, you will be directed to a new dedicated feed highlighting reels liked by your friends. You can also initiate a conversation with them to discuss these shared interests.
However, note that this new section will not display every reel liked by your friends; instead, you will see a selection of these. Currently, this feature is being tested in select countries only.

It is important to note that when you enter the Reels tab and see the button with your friends’ icons, it does not mean that this particular reel is the one they liked. This button is merely a way to redirect you to the new feed.
