Google has taken advantage of its annual I/O conference to announce new features related to Gemini in Gmail. The technology company asserts that it wants to help its users reclaim their time, and to this end, it has introduced new functions that will allow them to delegate tasks to Gemini, so they can focus on what truly matters.
One of the new features presented by Google has been the personalized smart replies in Gmail. This capability will help you respond more quickly and effectively to the emails in your inbox thanks to Gemini’s AI.
This function extracts information from your previous emails and also from Google Drive to create response suggestions that include relevant data and, in addition, recreate your tone and writing style. In this way, not only will you save yourself the trouble of having to consult email threads to recall details of the subject matter, but you will also not have to correct the text generated by Gemini, as it will be adjusted to your way of expressing yourself.
Google has announced that the personalized smart replies in Gmail will be available by the end of this year.
Facing an inbox can become quite challenging if you are one of those people who either receive a lot of emails or let them accumulate without opening them. To assist you, Gemini has acquired the capability to delete or archive those emails you do not need.
The new inbox cleaning function allows you to indicate to Gemini what type of emails should be deleted or archived. For example, you can give the instruction “delete all my unread emails from Friends of Fishing from last year,” and the AI will comply with just one click. This feature will be generally activated in Gmail during the next quarter.
Another of those tasks that can be a real headache is the exchange of messages to schedule a meeting when you do not have access to the other person’s calendar. Aware of this, Google has introduced quick appointment scheduling in Gmail, a function assisted by Gemini that allows you to offer time slots for your contact to book a time, without ever having to leave your inbox.
“Gemini in Gmail detects when you are trying to schedule a meeting and sends you a helpful reminder, making it easier to share your booking page directly in Gmail, significantly reducing the time and effort spent coordinating times,” explains Google.
The quick appointment scheduling is expected to be activated generally in Gmail during the next quarter.
