OpenAI has launched a new desktop app for ChatGPT on Windows. Currently, the application is in its preliminary version, with the final release expected by the end of the year. However, users subscribed to the Plus, Enterprise, Team, or Edu plans can already start testing it.
The developer made this announcement via its profile on X, referencing a post from June in which a user asked OpenAI when they would release a version of their chatbot for Windows. This serves as a way to show that they are responding to user demands and creating value for them.

If you have a paid plan, you can now access the Microsoft Store and download the new ChatGPT desktop app. This application includes the latest improvements to the chatbot, including access to the preview of OpenAI o1, its most advanced model.
Regarding its functionality, it works similarly to ChatGPT on its original platform, allowing users to converse with it, ask questions, summarize or analyze files, upload images, and even generate them thanks to DALL-E’s capabilities. This comprehensive experience is further enhanced by the ability to minimize the app and turn it into a complementary window that is easily accessible. Additionally, there is a quick-access feature for ChatGPT, which can be activated using the following command: [Alt + Space].
However, it is important to note that some features of the original model are still not available in the desktop app for Windows, such as voice conversations. Moreover, some integrations with the GPT store are not functional yet. But it is worth remembering that this is a preliminary version, so there is room for improvement as the app continues to develop.
