The most anticipated trade event every year for e-commerce retailers and consumers in Mexico has a name, and it’s called Hot Sale. Since its first celebration almost ten years ago, it has been generating high numbers of buyers, sales and store visits.
In 2014, the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO) created this commercial event to boost eCommerce in the country. It is also held in Argentina and Colombia but is managed by other organizations.
In this eCommerce campaign, retailers, as well as customers who prefer to buy online, are the protagonists. It is held annually, although the days of the event have varied over the last few years. The last one was held from May 29 to June 6, 2023, so we can only wait to find out when Hot Sale Mexico is next year.
Hot Sale is a period of time marked by discounts and promotions in different categories of products sold via e-commerce, such as home appliances, video games, clothing and footwear are made available to Internet users. As well as a wide range of services such as travel, beauty, and sports. The most popular and in-demand categories are electronics (51%), followed by fashion (46%), home appliances (43%), travel and transportation (37%) and cell phones (34%).

From its first edition to Hot Sale 2022, this trade event has managed to raise US$3.75 billion. Due to its recent celebration, the data of the last edition is not available, but last year 19 million products were sold, thus generating revenues of a total of 1.3 billion dollars.
This was influenced by the situation that was experienced worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused a notable increase in online sales worldwide and consequently, during the 2020 Hot Sale, since it was not possible to go out on the street unless it was strictly necessary.
According to data from the AMVO report, the Hot Sale website is the second source of consultation among consumers with a preference of 55% compared to multi-category sites such as Amazon, Mercado Libre or Linio, which are the first with a preference percentage of 64%.
