Claro Shop is a retail chain that sells a variety of consumer electronics and home appliances in Latin America and the Caribbean. They offer a wide range of products such as smartphones, TVs, home appliances, and more. They also offer services such as prepaid mobile phone services, home internet, and home phone services.
Claro Shop belongs to Claro, that was founded in America Movil in 2000, which is a Mexican multinational telecommunications corporation. It is the largest provider of mobile telephony and fixed telephony in Latin America, and it is also a player in the broadband market. Claro is a well-known Mexican brand in Latin America. It is a company that is divided into various sectors such as telecommunications, entertainment, cloud services, streaming and also e-commerce. This last business line operates under the name Claro Shop and functions as a website where users can find a wide range of products from various categories.
Claro Shop, owned by businessman Carlos Slim, offers the possibility to buy cell phones, electronics, home, fashion, video games, computing, sports and other items. Although Claro is a company that has a presence in almost all of Latin America, for now, the e-Commerce only makes shipments of products within Mexican territory, but it wouldn’t be surprising if they start to offer the services of buying and selling products in other countries.
One of the factors that has most attracted the attention of users who use Claro Shop is that the eCommerce is always looking to offer promotions and discounts. In addition, it gives customers the opportunity to use different payment methods such as charges to Telmex bill, Sears or Sanborns department store cards, Visa, MasterCard or Mobile Payment credit and debit cards, PayPal, cash with deposit in Bancomer, Oxxo or 7 Eleven.
But without a doubt, one of the most striking features of this eCommerce is its alliance with Zip, the financial technology company. This merger allows customers to purchase products under interest-free fortnightly payments with their debit card, something that had not been possible in the Mexican territory until then. That is not the only successful alliance of the eCommerce. Claro Shop also joined the technology company Aspel: within the Aspel Business Administrative System (SAE), users are able to connect to Claro Shop with one click.
Among the advantages that Claro Shop offers to SMEs through Aspel is the free publication of their products, which will only be charged commissions when sales are generated, access to a Claro sales advisory system for online sales, support with logistics management and access to various forms of payment for customers.
“This solution is designed for businesses to accelerate their sales by displaying their products in a large digital commercial space with millions of consumers who are looking for merchandise on the internet, while also obtaining other benefits such as effective inventory control, accounts receivable and payable, invoicing, purchasing, sales and suppliers,” said Gilberto Sánchez, general director of Aspel, in a statement issued in 2020, the year in which the alliance was announced.
When a customer is interested in a product offered on Claro Shop, the platform asks them to enter their postal code to calculate an estimated delivery time for their package, always ensuring that delivery will be made on those dates. However, they also have an option for urgent shipments called Express Shipping, which allows customers to receive the package the next day after purchase.
As for returns, they are usually accepted without cost if the customer received merchandise that is different from what they expected, damaged, incomplete, or mishandled. Notification of such a situation is made through the website and the process is carried out.
