Surely you have seen a lot of tricks and ways to boost your eCommerce thanks to artificial intelligence. Many of them are true, but others are just trying to steal your identity and data. This can lead to scammers using this information to steal your money from your bank, for example.

What does scam means

Scams are more and more popular on the internet, they urge the user to make an advance payment  by promising money in vain. It is a variation of phishing, a practice in which someone impersonates a legitimate entity in order to obtain the affected user’s information and bank details.

Ecommerce limitless Artificial Intelligence: ELAI Method

Recently, there has been a page that has gained a high number of visits called ELAI Method (Ecommerce Limitless Artificial Intelligence), even though it is not a very attractive website. On this site they offer you an automated method using artificial intelligence that allows you to create a business in 20 to 30 minutes with which you can earn more than $2,000 a day. They are supposed to help you set up online stores that will use artificial intelligence to find the most popular and trending products to offer in your stores.

As they say in their video presentation, all you have to do is give your full name, email and cell phone to get started. They claim that they only allow one person per city to join, as the service will cost $25,000 per month, so they insist that you sign up and provide your information because spots are limited. Also, if you are not satisfied with the service, they promise to send you a full refund.

A user on Reddit has talked about his experience with ELAI Method. In short, the user commented that they gave his financial information to one of the company’s employees who contacted him and made the payment for the service since there were very limited places. Days later, and after several conversations with the company’s commercial agents, he tried to request his refund via chat with the number they had provided them with no success. They finally managed to contact someone to whom they could explain their situation.

This person pretended to give them a partial refund of the money invested, which the user did not accept, remembering that in their presentation video they claimed to give a full refund. In the comments of the publication on Reddit, the user has confirmed that they finally received their money back. Other users have commented that this page is designed to scam those who use it.

How to prevent scam

First of all, you have to take into account that things are not given for free, and even less if there are large amounts of money involved. Then, if we talk about email accounts, the ideal thing is to have a good spam filter so as not to receive misleading emails. However, if even with this filter, you still receive emails of this type, it is best to pay attention to all the warning signs: the email address that sends it to you, the tone of the message, the information requested, etc. Sometimes it is better to err on the side of caution in these cases.

And finally, when making online purchases, it is best to do it in eCommerce of known suppliers, in this way, your data will be safer than in a very little known store. Although the reality is that nowadays and with the great technological advances we are facing, nobody is really safe from Internet scams.
