Even though Threads is a company that has been around for just over a year, it announced in September that it has more than 230 million active users globally each month. Business Insider reported that last month, journalist Katie Notopoulos from the outlet tried making posts on Threads designed to provoke outrage and found that these gained more traction.

Since then, Threads has been swamped with discussions about rage bait, content moderation, and political content. Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram and Threads, even publicly stated that they are working to address these issues.

Business Insider spoke with Emily Dalton, the Vice President of Product Management at Meta and the person overseeing Threads. She advises users: “Making sure that discussions focus on current, timely, and relevant topics will be very beneficial.

Tips to Improve Your Results

  1. Posts that spark conversations and debates tend to generate the most engagement and are also most likely to be recommended to other users.
  2. Direct messages are currently unavailable and not expected anytime soon. However, they are working on new ways for people to connect. In the meantime, Threads posts can be shared via Instagram DMs.
  3. Tagging your content as “AI Generated” will not affect its distribution.
  4. This year, Threads launched a limited monetization test for creators, though they have not yet implemented any action with ads. Furthermore, according to Dalton, they are exploring ways to support content creators on the platform in the long term, but they must first complete the development of the app.
  5. It seems that posting on weekends is a way to reach more users. Meta recommends posting two to three times a week, but really, the more you post on Threads, the better.
