Threads launches “Dear Algo,” the AI that temporarily adapts your Feed based on the interests you specify

Personalization is essential when it comes to providing a satisfying experience for each user, which is why Threads has introduced a new AI-powered feature that gives individuals greater control over the posts they see in the social network’s Feed. This innovation is called “Dear Algo” and, for three days, it displays content related to the topic you specify; it is a temporary adjustment that adapts to changes in your interests.

Dear Algo is already active in Australia, the United States, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Meta, the parent company of Threads, has announced that it anticipates expanding this feature to more countries in the near future, but has not provided a specific timeline.

Threads aims to help its users access the information and content that best align with their preferences, while avoiding subjects they do not find engaging. To this end, it has granted them more control through “Dear Algo.”

The usage mechanics of “Dear Algo” are very straightforward:

1. Create a new thread (post) that is public.
2. Type “Dear Algo” (the AI will be triggered automatically as a mention) and make your request.
   1. Ask it to show you the content you are most interested in. For example: “Dear Algo, show me more posts about medieval fantasy books.”
   2. Ask it to show you fewer posts about topics you are not interested in. For example: “Dear Algo, show me fewer posts about artificial intelligence.”
3. Share the thread.
4. Enjoy a customized Feed.

Another option for activating “Dear Algo” in your Feed is to reuse the requests of other individuals who share your interests. To do this, you simply need to repost another user’s request. It is that simple.

If, before the three-day period elapses, you wish to stop the activity of “Dear Algo,” you may delete your requests and posts in the settings menu.
