Major Announcements at CES 2025

Technology professionals and enthusiasts are closely watching this event, where leading brands and companies reveal their groundbreaking innovations. It’s a chance to kick off the year with a high impact and set the tone for the industry.

Among the many announcements, some stand out due to the prominence of the presenters and most of them have been commented in social media.

Nvidia

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of Nvidia, announced several innovations closely tied to AI, including Project Digits. This personal AI supercomputer is powered by Nvidia’s new GB10 Grace Blackwell superchip. It can handle AI models with up to 200 billion parameters and is slated for release in May with a starting price of $3,300.

Project Digits is compact, making it ideal for use alongside a computer, and it operates with a standard power outlet. This breakthrough aims to “put a personal AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher, and student, allowing them to actively shape the AI era,” Huang stated.

Nvidia also shared that it is developing “world models” called Cosmos World Foundation Models. These AI models, trained with 20 million hours of driving and robotics videos, are designed to interpret real-world behaviors and aim to accelerate the development of Physical AI

“Cosmos will drastically reduce the time needed to train intelligent robots and advanced autonomous vehicles…The pivotal moment for AI is approaching,” said Huang. Huang suggested that a significant breakthrough in robotics technology, similar to what ChatGPT represented in AI, is on the horizon. The Cosmos models are open-source and come in three variations: Nano, Super, and Ultra.

Continuing with robotics developments, Nvidia has introduced the GR00T Blueprint, a project utilizing imitation learning to enable users to teach robots specific tasks by mimicking human actions. This technology uses Apple Vision Pro glasses to record human activities in a digital format, which is then used to train the robots.

Toyota

The Japanese automotive giant has partnered with Nvidia to incorporate automated driving features into their latest vehicle models. Toyota has implemented Nvidia’s Drive AGX Orin supercomputer and the security-oriented operating system, DriveOS, for this purpose.

This collaboration isn’t new; back in 2019, the Toyota Research Institute began leveraging Nvidia’s technology to advance its autonomous driving systems.

Sony

Sony unveiled Xyn (pronounced “zin”), a toolkit for “extended reality” designed to facilitate the creation of 3D content for films, animation, or video games. This toolkit will feature 4K OLED displays, support video transfer, and be compatible with third-party design, modeling, and production software.

Additionally, a prototype of a spatial capture solution was introduced, which aims to convert images of real-world objects or spaces into highly realistic 3D models. However, the details surrounding this project remain sparse.

Withings

This company, focused on improving people’s health and developing technological products to achieve it, has launched a product that looks set to revolutionize the health and wellness sector.

OMNIA is a 360° body-scanning health mirror that:

  • Performs scans for heart health, lung function, sleep patterns, body composition, and metabolic metrics.
  • Acts as a central hub, integrating data from various devices and third-party apps.
  • Includes a telemedicine portal for direct connection with care teams and cardiologists.
  • Features an AI assistant to analyze metrics and provide personalized insights.
  • Equipped with an interactive display, supporting both touch and voice commands.

Samsung

Samsung has unveiled a stretchable screen that imitates 3D high-quality projections, except this screen actually gets closer to you.
