The retail sector is turning its eyes to Barcelona once again. From June 9 to 11, 2026, the Fira Gran Via venue will host a new edition of Shoptalk Europe, the premier event for the retail, brand, and technology ecosystem on the continent.

Under the central theme “Where AI and human ingenuity meet,” Shoptalk Europe 2026 promises to be the definitive space to debate how automation and artificial intelligence can enhance the shopping experience without sacrificing the human authenticity that creates emotional connections with consumers.

What will you see at Shoptalk Europe

Shoptalk is more than just a trade show; it is a strategic content platform. This year, the event is structured around accelerated digital transformation. The goal is to provide the more than 4,500 attendees (where one in three holds a C-suite position) with the tools to navigate an environment where “agentic commerce” and generative AI are redefining product discovery.

The thematic pillars for this edition include:

  • Data and content strategies in a world driven by large language models (LLMs).
  • The role of the physical store as a cultural and emotional hub.
  • The evolution of retail media and social commerce in an environment of fragmented attention.

Featured speakers and brands

The 2026 agenda features a “who’s who” of global commerce. While the program continues to grow, industry giants have already confirmed their presence, including executives from:

  • Consumer and luxury brands: Ikea, Lego Group, Hermès, Nespresso, Bacardi, and Kraft Heinz.
  • Retailers and fashion: Tesco, Lidl, Puma, Harrods, and H&M Group.
  • Experts and analysts: Notable speakers include Ira Kalish (Global Chief economist at Deloitte), Nanna Anderson (Chief of New Growth & Ventures at H&M Group), and influential venture capital voices like Antoine Nussenbaum (Felix Capital).-scheduled, 15-minute face-to-face meetings are expected, facilitating deals between retailers and technology solution providers.

Must-see conferences and panel discussions

If you are attending, these are the sessions that should be marked on your calendar:

  1. “Operating models for innovation”. A conversation with Xavier Rebés, Executive Director of Tous Jewelry, and Emma Lindahl, Head of Ica Gruppen, in which they will discuss the latest key technological innovations for the industry.
  2. “Building a data-enabled business for AI-readiness”: A technical and strategic session on preparing data infrastructure to make AI truly operational rather than just an experiment, moderated by Carlos Sanchez, from McKinsey & Company. Fiona Tan, Chief Technology Officer from Wayfair will be the main speaker.
  3. “Stores as media: unlocking retail’s most unique channel”: A panel discussion on monetizing physical traffic and how stores are becoming the most valuable advertising channel for brands. Tom Langley, Head of Personalisation & Retail Media from John Lewis, and Jamie Kristow, CEO of Costwold Outdoor Group will be participating in this discussion moderated by Darren Keen, CEO of International Markets.
  4. “The Macro forces shaping European retail”: An essential talk led by Ira Kalish (Deloitte) to understand the macroeconomic context (inflation, logistics, and costs) that will affect profit margins in 2027.
  5. “Transforming digital shopping experiences with Data and AI”: Marta Martínez, Product Director at Mango; Romain Roulleau, Ecommerce Director at Kingfisher, and Julia Bósch, Executive Chair and Founder at Lookiero Outfittery Group will be discussing about the current situation of AI in eCommerce.

Also, at Shoptalk exists the Meetup program. Over 20,000 pre-scheduled, 15-minute face-to-face meetings are expected, facilitating deals between retailers and technology solution providers.

Dates and schedule: three days of professional intensity

The event will unfold over three key days:

  • Tuesday, June 9: Doors open and welcome sessions. The focus will be on “marketing for a new consumer reality.”
  • Wednesday, June 10: The main day, featuring the bulk of the “mainstage” sessions and the intensive meetups program.
  • Thursday, June 11: Strategic conclusions and the closing of the exhibition area.

The venue will open daily at 09:00, starting with networking breakfasts followed by keynote speeches on the Headliner Stage.

Shoptalk Europe stands out for its ability to bring decision-makers together. It’s not just about seeing “what’s new” in tech, but about understanding how to apply that technology to scale businesses in an increasingly complex European market.

Are you ready for Barcelona? Tickets are already available, and as usual, the event is expected to sell out weeks before it begins.
