The year 2024 has been favorable for FNAC Darty, consolidating its omnichannel strategy and strengthening its position in the online channel, which now represents 22% of the Group’s global sales. Sales in physical stores also showed positive performance, with nearly 72 million checkout transactions, signifying a growth of +1.5% compared to 2023.
This growth has been especially significant in markets such as Spain and Portugal, where the company increased its sales by 12% during 2024, driven by the strong performance of stores and the growing contribution of the online channel.
According to the latest report presented by the French company, the group’s revenues in 2024 reached nearly $8.800 billion USD, which represents an increase of 1% compared to the previous year.
The gross margin stood at 30.6%, an improvement from 30.2% in 2023, mainly driven by growth in services, which contributed +50 basis points. Furthermore, the current operating income rose to $200.2 million USD, a 6% increase compared to the previous year, demonstrating the effectiveness of the performance plans implemented across all areas.
In November 2024, Fnac Darty strengthened its presence in Southern Europe with the acquisition of Unieuro, the leading Italian retailer of consumer electronics and appliances. Through this transaction, the Group anticipates synergies exceeding $22 million USD, primarily derived from the optimization of purchasing conditions.
One of the drivers behind the growth of eCommerce for FNAC Darty has been the expansion of its reverse marketplaces, a model that allows business partners to sell directly through the Group’s platform, benefiting from its reach and reputation. Thanks to this strategy, online sales grew by +2.2% in comparison to 2023, reinforcing the positive trend.
Additionally, the weight of omnichannel sales, those transactions that combine physical and digital touchpoints, increased by +1.7 points, already reaching 52% of the company’s total online sales. This development confirms the success of a strategy that integrates physical stores, eCommerce, and additional services to create a more seamless and personalized shopping experience.
This goes hand in hand with the company’s servitization, that is, the creation of additional services around its products, such as insurance, extended warranties, technical support, and repair services; a strategy that enhances profitability and strengthens the customer bond throughout the product’s life cycle.
Looking ahead to 2025, Fnac Darty anticipates moderate growth in its current operating income, excluding the integration of Unieuro and the ticketing business. Moreover, the Group plans to present a new strategic plan in June 2025, aimed at consolidating its leadership position and addressing future market challenges.
