This week, Sam Altman laid the groundwork for the future of AI, stating that “we have already passed the event horizon; the lift-off has begun.” OpenAI aims to reach infinity and beyond, which means bringing AI to all fields, including gaming. To this end, the developer has announced a collaboration with Mattel, the famous toy company that markets iconic products such as Barbie and Hot Wheels.
This is OpenAI’s first partnership in this field, and it will allow Mattel to leverage the developer’s technology to create innovative and age-tailored experiences and products based on AI. Both companies ensure that this strategic collaboration will focus on privacy and security.
In addition, Mattel is implementing ChatGPT Enterprise in its operations with the aim of enhancing product development, boosting creative processes, promoting innovation, and strengthening its commitment to its customers worldwide.
Josh Silverman, Mattel’s franchise director, stated: “Each of our products and experiences is designed to inspire fans, entertain audiences, and enrich lives through play. AI has the power to expand that mission and the reach of our brands in new and exciting ways. Our collaboration with OpenAI will enable us to harness new technologies to consolidate our leadership in innovation and reinvent new forms of play”.
For his part, Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer of OpenAI, stated: “We are pleased to collaborate with Mattel in its strategy to introduce smart AI-based experiences and products into its iconic brands, while providing its employees with the benefits of ChatGPT. With OpenAI, Mattel has access to an advanced set of AI capabilities, along with new tools that drive productivity, creativity, and large-scale transformation across the company.”
According to what was announced by the companies, it is expected that the first product resulting from this alliance will be announced at the end of the year. Can you imagine a Barbie that, in addition to having the most extensive resume in history, can interact with you?
