Instagram has launched a new feature that allows you to add effects to audio messages that you can send via direct messages. I became aware of this feature because Mosseri decided to send a voice note to his broadcast channel, which I joined one day out of curiosity. A voice note that, against all odds, I decided to listen to.
Curiosity leads you to places you would have never imagined you would reach, just as it happened when I joined Selena Gomez’s ‘secret friends’ list.
Although these voice modifications were already included in Edits, the platform’s video editing app, having them available in your direct message conversations is a different experience.
When you wish to send an audio message with effects:
If you cannot imagine how your voice would sound with the ‘wobble’ effect, you may try editing a video in Edits and take a look at the latest features they included.
To be fair, I wish CEO of Instagram has used chipmunk voice.
This new feature is powered by Meta AI. When you wish to send an audio message, you will be able to choose among different effects to modify your tone of voice without losing intensity, rhythm, or emotion. As Mosseri mentioned in his audio, “these are ways to make your voice messages more entertaining and creative.”
Once again, Instagram is committed to enhancing conversations through direct messages, which are being used increasingly more. However, at present, voice effects in audio messages are not available in most countries.
Since Mark Zuckerberg’s social network enjoys testing new features before releasing them officially, some users have reported a new feature that allows the inclusion of clickable links in Instagram post descriptions.
However, this is limited to accounts that have Meta Verified status (which requires a minimum payment of $15 per month) and is limited to 5-10 links per month in descriptions. This measure is intended to prevent spam.
The question that now arises is: will we finally be able to stop saying “link in bio”?
