The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has announced the launch of Muse Spark, the first model in a new series of LLMs (large language models) developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs. What is the intention behind this? To create assistants capable of understanding users’ real-life context.
Muse Spark does not originate from a simple improvement, but rather from a complete reconstruction of Meta’s AI stack. After nine months of intensive development, this model is presented as a small, fast, and extremely efficient option, specifically designed for complex reasoning in critical areas such as mathematics, science, and healthcare.
Most notably, its focus is on scientific scaling: each generation in the Muse series will validate the advances of its predecessor before moving on to larger models. Currently, Muse Spark already powers the Meta AI assistant in its web and mobile applications.
One of Muse Spark’s main advantages is its advanced multimodal perception. Meta is seeking to move away from the “text box” model, so that AI can comprehend the user’s visual surroundings:
The model has been trained in collaboration with medical professionals in order to provide detailed answers regarding health and is able to interpret medical charts and diagrams. Furthermore, it excels in visual coding, enabling users to create micro-websites or simple games (such as flight simulators or retro arcades) through simple voice or text instructions.
For the marketing and eCommerce sector, the most significant update is the new Shopping Mode. This feature leverages the immense volume of content already available on Instagram and Facebook to provide:

The rollout of these features has already begun in the United States via the Meta AI app and the website. In the forthcoming weeks, the company intends to extend these capabilities to the remainder of its ecosystem: Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
“We are building personal superintelligence: an AI that not only answers questions, but understands your world because it is built upon it”, states Meta’s official release.
In line with its collaborative philosophy, Meta has announced that it will open access to this technology through an API, currently available in a private testing phase for select partners, with the intention of transforming future versions of the Muse series into open-source projects.
