The emergence of YouTube marked a milestone in the history of social networks, becoming the platform where the greatest number of users search for videos, whether it is a tutorial, music, motivational videos, learning, or entertainment. Achieving success on YouTube is not easy, as its catalog of millions of videos on different topics makes it a virtually infinite showcase, where only the best stand out.
Despite the high consumption of videos on the platform, there is a special place for a series of videos that went viral, transforming into the most viewed in the history of YouTube. Traditionally, we find musical content among them, and since the pandemic, children’s videos have managed to quickly position themselves among the most viewed. Here is a list of the 10 most viewed videos in the history of YouTube (data updated as of December 13, 2024):
Holding the first place in the top for the fourth consecutive year, we find Baby Shark Dance, the English version of the hyper-popular children’s song that began in South Korea. This video, which has managed to surpass all YouTube content to obtain the leadership as the most viewed video in YouTube’s history, currently accumulates more than 15,395 million views.
It was uploaded to the platform in June 2016.
Since its release in January 2017, Despacito, the song by Luis Fonsi, had remained the most successful video in YouTube’s history, but after so long of reigning, in the year 2000, it dropped to second place. Today, it continues to defend its second position and already accumulates more than 8,608 million views.
Children’s content never ceases to amaze with the number of views it achieves on YouTube. Maintaining the third spot in this ranking, we find this musical piece for children: Johny Johny, Yes Papa, a lullaby in English that so far has managed to accumulate more than 6,989 million views.

Remaining in the eighth position of the list, we have another children’s song, which demonstrates the increase in the consumption of content for children on this platform over the last few years.
