This year, we have seen a significant number of creators either returning to or starting to create content on YouTube as a new way to build and sustain a stable community. This is just the beginning, as by 2025, it is anticipated that the video platform that has been around for so many years will make a comeback.

Just as we previously discussed the most searched terms on Google, here are the most searched queries on YouTube according to data from Similar Web.

Top YouTube Searches of 2024

It is no surprise that the keyword ASMR has been the most searched on YouTube this year with a total of 58.7 million searches. This shows a clear demand for a peaceful and soothing space to help reduce the stress levels that people are increasingly facing. These videos aim to relax and calm the viewer, something that can be challenging to achieve online.

The next most searched term is “mrbeast,” who also ranks sixth as “Mr Beast”, known as the most followed YouTuber globally. He boasts 340 million subscribers and has recently launched a TV show on Prime Video called “Beast Games.”

In third place is Sidemen, a group of British YouTubers with 21.8 million subscribers. The group consists of seven men aged between 28 and 32, who began creating content in 2013. Their videos feature challenges, friend pranks, lifestyle content, and gaming videos.

In fourth, fifth, and seventh places, we see searches related to music: lofi, music, and Kendrick Lamar respectively. Lofi has over 27 million searches, with the top result being Lofi HipHop radio from the channel Lofi Girl. The channel is known for streaming continuous animations of a girl studying with headphones on, set to this type of music. Its aim is to help viewers focus on their tasks or create a calm environment, which likely contributes to the keyword’s popularity. This live stream began on July 22, 2022.

As for Kendrick Lamar, he has been one of the most popular artists among Generation Z in recent years, and his latest album was released just a month ago. One of his recent songs “Not Like Us” has reached 200 million views, placing it in his top 10 most viewed videos on his YouTube channel. This song is part of his ongoing rap battle with Drake (who ranks at number 15), a battle where, for now, Lamar is declared the winner.

In sports, the eighth and ninth spots go to WWE and the NBA. They have 20.9 and 20.2 million searches respectively.

Finally, in the tenth spot is another content creator: Asmongold, also known as ZackRawrr. A search for him leads to his YouTube channel with more than 3.24 million subscribers (far from Mr. Beast’s 340 million). He is known for his gaming and reaction videos.
