Facebook includes Stories in its Content Monetization program

Creators from all around the world who are part of the program will be able to begin earning money with their Facebook Stories.

Facebook has announced that it will include Stories in its global Content Monetization program. This new initiative allows creators to generate income while Meta stimulates activity on its social network.

The tech giant made this decision after testing this option with a selected group of beta users.

How Facebook Stories Monetization works

The Facebook Content Monetization program was launched in October 2024, when the social network decided to merge its in-stream ad programs, Reels ads, and performance bonus into one service.

Since then, it has become an opportunity for creators who are part of this program to generate income through their Reels, long videos, photos, and text posts. To these formats, Stories are now added.

The monetization of Facebook Stories will be performance-based, a metric that emphasizes content quality. As explained by the social network, performance enables you to «generate income regardless of whether an ad was shown in your content, as it focuses on the number of views and the interaction the content generates.

This means that creators no longer need to focus on optimizing for specific video lengths and can dedicate their time to creating content that their audience enjoys».

Additionally, creators can benefit from wider reach, moving beyond dependence on ad placement.

How to join the Content Monetization Program

Creators who are already part of Facebook’s Content Monetization program can now start earning money with their Stories. This option will be automatically activated in their profiles, and they only need to upload content following the usual process. In terms of performance data, these will also be automatically included in their statistics.

But what about those who are not part of this program? Well, they need to register in this form for Facebook to consider them and decide whether to invite them to the Content Monetization program.

It would not be surprising if Facebook expands access to its program soon, leveraging the interest that this new option may generate. Remember that, in January of this year, Meta promised various rewards to attract TikTok creators, including invitations to its Content Monetization program. This reveals its interest in promoting this service.
