Mark Zuckerberg has presented Meta’s quarterly results, highlighting the figure of $47,5 billion in revenue, which represents an increase of 22% compared to the previous year. This presentation was accompanied by his statement of intent regarding the advent of “personal superintelligence,” in which artificial intelligence (as would be expected) plays a central role.
Meta continues to expand its user base, with more than 3.48 billion people using at least one of its applications daily, representing a 6% increase over the previous year. This growth has also been accompanied by a rise in global engagement. According to its CEO, the company has consolidated its position as a key player in the digital realm, which enables it to continue investing in its most ambitious artificial intelligence initiatives.
A key area where AI has demonstrated its value is within advertising. During this quarter, in which Meta’s advertising impressions increased by 11% compared to the same quarter last year, Meta recorded 5% more conversions on Instagram and 3% on Facebook thanks to the implementation of its AI-based recommendation model. The optimization of advertising has been made possible through the use of more precise signals and broader context, which enhances the experience for both advertisers and users.
Furthermore, according to Zuckerberg, the AI-driven creation of advertising content has begun to generate a significant impact on Meta’s advertising revenue, especially for smaller advertisers. The use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools has enabled brands to execute high-quality campaigns without the need for large budgets. This is a crucial factor in a context where, according to Meta’s data, the average price per ad rose by 9% compared to the previous year.
Meta focuses not only on advertising but also on enhancing user experiences through AI. Advances in recommendation systems have enabled a 5% increase in time spent on Facebook and a 6% increase on Instagram. In this regard, Zuckerberg explains that even content itself stands to benefit from this technology: “There is also considerable potential for the content itself to be improved. We are observing initial progress with the launch of our AI video editing tools via Meta AI and our new Edits app, and there remains much to be accomplished in this area.”
As noted earlier, for Zuckerberg, one of Meta’s most significant advances this quarter has been progress in the development of AI systems capable of self-improvement. Thus, Meta is focused on the development of superintelligence, a concept defined as AI that surpasses human intelligence in all respects. For Zuckerberg, the creation of such superintelligence is viewed as a priority, with the vision of putting it at the service of people to enhance their everyday lives.
To realize this future, the company has launched Meta Superintelligence Labs, a laboratory dedicated to the development of the next generation of AI models. This center brings together research teams, product development groups, and advanced research teams (FAIR) with the objective of taking AI beyond its current boundaries. The focus is on proprietary models such as Llama 4.1 and 4.2, which are expected to push the frontiers of artificial intelligence in the coming years.
For Meta’s CEO, the key to the success of this project lies in the creation of an elite team, led by experts such as Alexandr Wang, Nat Friedman, and Shengjia Zhao, who are working to ensure that Meta has the necessary infrastructure to develop the superintelligence that promises to change the future.
However, this vision for the future of AI is not limited to the personal sphere. Zuckerberg believes that “every business will soon have an enterprise AI, just as it possesses an email address, a social media account, and an eCommerce website. We are beginning to see some product-market fit in several countries where we are testing these agents, and we are integrating these enterprise AIs into advertisements on Facebook and Instagram, as well as directly into eCommerce websites.”
