Instagram is gearing up to introduce new AI-powered tools for video creation, as shared by Adam Mosseri, the CEO of Instagram and Threads, in one of his regular video updates on the platform.
These tools will utilize Movie Gen, Meta’s generative AI technology, and are slated for an official launch in 2025.

In his post, Mosseri showcased some of the creative possibilities and features that Instagram’s new AI tool for video will offer. These range from changing your outfit and modifying the video’s context to adding specific elements, characters, or even transforming yourself into an avatar.
The purpose of this functionality is to provide users with more tools to create and share their content on the social network. In other words, the ultimate goal is to increase activity on Instagram and thereby encourage interaction.
Instagram aims to deliver value to its users by fostering creativity, encouraging discovery, and building connections. This strategic approach has been reinforced through the release of numerous creative features, including the option to make collages in Instagram stories and the introduction of commenting on Stories. These trends are expected to continue into 2025.
