This being the preferred platform in the case of Spain according to the We Are Social study.

These women have not only conquered massive audiences but have also managed to shape attitudes, trends, and even cultural perceptions through their online presence. Their voices resonate across a diverse spectrum of topics, ranging from fashion and beauty to personal empowerment and social activism.

The representation of women on TikTok

In Spain, 94.9% of the population (47.54 million people) have access to the internet, with over 85% of them being active social media users. Among social media users, the majority are women (51.1%). Generally, users primarily follow accounts of friends and family on social media, then influencers or celebrities on platforms, and lastly, brands.

Regarding the type of content that thrives the most, it is information about current events and content that inspires users, particularly those aged 18 to 24. On the other hand, younger users seek content that entertains them.

Although other social media platforms like WhatsApp or Instagram are ahead, according to the 2023 Digital Report by We Are Social, users are spending more and more time on TikTok. For TikTok Spain, the predominant audience is also female, representing 56.9% of users between the ages of 18 and 24. Generally, the audience of TikTokers consists mainly of those who are active on social media and are interested in the type of content they offer.

From the top 20 most followed Spanish TikTokers on the platform, half are women, with singer Rosalía leading the list. Humorous and entertaining content prevails on the platform, as seen in accounts like Julia Menú García (2nd place), Judith Arias (5th), and Skyandtami (7th). On the other hand, music and current trends are always a solid option to grow and build a community on the vertical video social network for female TikTokers, as demonstrated by Larissa Kimberly (3rd), Twin Melody (4th), and Mar Lucas (6th).

However, differentiating yourself and targeting a more specific audience can also be a good choice when creating content on TikTok, as exemplified by Hurona Rolera and Inmagic, in the 8th and 9th positions among the top ten Spanish TikTokers with the most followers. But a prime example of how to navigate social media successfully is Lola Lolita, the young woman who closes the top 10 and has managed to go viral numerous times thanks to her internet presence.

Spanish women TikTokers set the standard: examples

While it is evident, it is important to clarify that a specific theme is not gender-bound. Women can create content about topics like sports, science, technology—typically associated with men—while men can equally engage in makeup, fashion, photography, decoration—themes often associated with women.

Content about trends and lifestyle

Female TikTokers often reflect their own experiences on social media. From fashion and beauty matters, where they share style tips and trends, such as  Larissa Kimberly   with 20.1 million followers who often creates viral trends, to deeper aspects of life like female empowerment.

Many of them also share their own experiences in motherhood, offering advice and fostering mutual support among mothers, like Julia Menú García, the second in the list of most followed Spanish TikTokers, known for her great sense of humor.

Content about music

Ahead of her, only Rosalía,, the famous singer, stands, with 32.5 million followers on TikTok. She is one of the most famous content creators in all of Spain. Despite being renowned for her musical talent, on the platform, she showcases her life as a singer, performs dances, shares trending choreographies, announces her new releases, and creates videos that align with the platform’s characteristics, such as trying food from other countries, participating in viral trends, or imitating her now former partner, Rauw Alejandro.

In content related to music, we also have Twin Melody, two twin sisters, Paula and Aitana Etxeberría. They often create joint covers of current songs, follow viral trends on TikTok, and provide tutorials for these trends so their followers can participate. Their success on this social platform has led them to gain recognition in other areas, including television collaborations (such as “El Hormiguero”) and their roles as singers, including participation in Benidorm Fest 2023.

On the other hand, we can find  Judith Arias, an influencer who has managed to stand out on the social media platform TikTok in record time, alongside her boyfriend, Ángel Vargas. Their content on TikTok usually revolves around humorous situations and fictional challenges between them. One of their most popular videos, with 65 million views, shows Judith making her boyfriend believe she is about to give birth. Additionally, she has collaborated with brands like Shein, the Chinese eCommerce giant.

Currently, both of them reside in Canada and create content in English about their life as a couple. They also have an account catering to their Spanish-speaking audience, as they are one of the most famous couples on the platform.

In terms of entertainment content, Inmagic stands out. With her magic trick content, she have managed to gather over 12 million followers.

Wellness and Mental Health

Promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle is another recurring theme, where TikTokers share workout routines, healthy recipes, and tips for mental well-being. For instance, Hurona Rolera, creates content that addresses what is like being on the autism spectrum and increasing mental health awareness, using her characteristic humor.

Lastly, in the top 10 Spanish TikTokers, we have Lola Lolita,, who has made quite a name for herself. Her dances and lip-sync videos have enabled her to collaborate with brands like L’Oreal and Paco Rabanne, and she even won the “Ídolo” Award for the best TikToker. Additionally, she also creates videos related to beauty and fashion.
