Once it has conquered Android phones with Gemini AI, Google is preparing to bring the potential of this technology to other devices using its operating system. In this way, Gemini’s personal assistant will be able to assist you from your smartwatch, your car, your television, your headphones, or your augmented reality glasses.
Google’s AI assistant will be incorporated into Wear OS smartwatches in the coming months, facilitating access to its capabilities when the user does not have the phone on hand or finds it inconvenient to use at that moment.
Using Gemini from a smartwatch is very simple and practical, as you can give it instructions using your voice, without needing to type on its small screen. Furthermore, the high level of language comprehension that Gemini possesses allows you to express yourself naturally.
Some useful applications of this AI assistant include searching for information, making inquiries, setting reminders, or asking for data present in other Google apps. The latter is possible thanks to the interoperability of Google’s ecosystem and its AI.
The comprehension capability of Gemini will also be particularly useful in Android Auto, freeing the driver from having to think about how to give the perfect command for the vehicle’s system to understand and react accordingly. The AI will exhibit greater ease in understanding what the person says through natural conversation.
Gemini will provide assistance during driving, helping you find the best route or directing you to the nearest gas station, for example. Additionally, it will be able to summarize the messages you have received on your messaging app, send the response you dictate (and even translate it), offer you a summary of the most relevant news of the day (in general or on a specific topic), narrate the synopsis of a book that interests you, and more.
Google has announced that Gemini will be activated in Android Auto in the coming months, followed by cars with Google Built-in.
The integration of Gemini in Google TV will allow a smoother and more personalized interaction with content offerings. Users will be able to request to be shown movies appropriate for minors and receive recommendations.
It will also be possible to find answers to questions or expand knowledge. For example, Google indicates that Gemini “can also help your children explore their endless questions about the solar system by answering questions and searching for the perfect YouTube video to learn more.”
To enjoy these capabilities, there will be a bit longer wait compared to other updates, as Gemini will arrive on Google TV at the end of the year.
Google is collaborating with Samsung to develop the Android XR platform, which will serve to create new ways of interacting with the next generation of glasses, headphones, and other smart devices.
“When the first Samsung headphones are launched at the end of this year, Gemini will be able to assist you, for example, in planning your vacation by surrounding you with videos, maps, and local tips, creating a complete itinerary within minutes, and offering you a more realistic experience of the place you are exploring,” explained Google.
