Agentic AI is designed to assist us in performing tasks and to relieve us of the most tedious work, and Google has identified one of those actions that typically cause a certain reluctance for many people: making phone calls. For this reason, the technology giant has launched a new feature in Search through which an AI agent makes calls to local businesses on your behalf.
At this time, Google has activated this feature in the United States and only for individuals subscribed to the Google AI Pro and AI Ultra plans.

Google aims to make it easier for its users to obtain quick information about a business or even to make reservations at that business. To achieve this, it has integrated its agentic AI calling feature for local businesses within Search.
For instance, imagine that you need to find a dog grooming salon that meets your needs. You would simply need to type “dog grooming salons near me” in Google Search and click on the new option that appears in the results, marked by the Google AI sparkle, and it will suggest actions such as asking the AI to verify prices.
Once you have clicked on this option, you will need to complete a form in which you will be asked questions regarding your needs (dog breed and size, the specific service you require, level of urgency, your preferred method of receiving the response, etc.). After this, the AI agent will make calls to one or more local businesses that have a Google Business Profile, and will subsequently provide you with a summary containing the key information collected.
For their part, businesses have the ability to opt out of this feature by modifying their business profile or by notifying Google by phone should they not wish to receive AI-generated calls.
In addition to this significant innovation, Google has also enhanced the Search experience by integrating the capabilities of its Gemini 2.5 Pro model and Deep Search within AI Mode. For now, this update is only available within the Google AI Pro and AI Ultra plans in the United States, for those already enrolled in the Labs AI Mode experiment.
To access Gemini 2.5 Pro, you simply need to navigate to the “AI Mode” drop-down menu located at the top of the screen. While the default model will continue to be useful for quick queries, Gemini 2.5 Pro is designed to assist you with complex inquiries, providing deep reasoning in areas such as mathematics or programming.
Likewise, for queries that involve even greater complexity, Google has activated Deep Search or Deep Research, which is also powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro. “Deep Search is our most advanced research tool within Google Search, helping you to save hours by performing hundreds of searches, analyzing disparate data, and generating a comprehensive, fully-cited report in minutes,” explains Google.
The company states that this option will be especially useful for conducting thorough investigations, making important purchase decisions, or for financial analysis.
