Since November 13, many website owners have reported that the Google Analytics platform has been experiencing issues in collecting data from websites worldwide.
This situation has led users to turn to Google support forums and social media platforms to express their dissatisfaction. One user explained, “The incomplete data has been there since November 13, showing only 4,445 users when, in reality (looking at Search and Discover in GSC), I’m estimating over 13,000 users (at least). Then, there would also be some social, email, or referral traffic.”
Many users have even claimed that since that date, they have experienced drops of up to 50% in reported traffic. Specifically, users have shown that GA4 has been reporting reduced traffic figures, and upon cross-referencing the data with other platforms, such as Google Search Console, traffic levels appeared normal.
“Since November 13, GA4 has not been providing complete reports even after 24 to 48 hours. Setting everything else aside, if I only add Search + Discover traffic, it’s more than double what GA4 is showing me. Before November 13, the figures between GSC and GA4 would roughly align,” one user stated.
On the other hand, real-time analytics were not affected and continued to display the expected traffic levels.
In addition to overall traffic volumes, other aspects such as channel attribution data, landing page metrics, and event tracking also experienced global issues.
While some users observed that GA4 data was flowing to BigQuery for connected accounts, many do not use this integration, making it only a partial solution to the problem.
Through a statement published on its Ads Status Dashboard, Google has confirmed an issue with GA4. The company stated that they are investigating the situation and affirmed, “We are working to restore reporting tables.”
Additionally, Google clarified that the generation of standard reporting tables has been affected, while granular reports (accessible through the exploration module) and BigQuery exports remain unaffected.
We can only hope that Google resolves this issue soon, allowing GA4 to once again provide the accurate information crucial for decision-making. We will stay updated on this situation and keep you informed.
According to Google, the issue has now been resolved.
Affected websites will be able to view their data from the past week in their reports within the next few hours.
