Consequently, in order to once again capture the spotlight, the South African magnate has decided to temporarily open up Grok 4—the most powerful version of his artificial intelligence technology—to all users, although with a daily query limit. To access the tool, you only need to have an account on the X social network, or set up an account directly with Grok.

Although we have already detailed the main features of Grok 4 in another article, this time we had the opportunity to test it firsthand, and below we offer you a direct explanation of everything you can do with this artificial intelligence solution.

What you can do with Grok 4

In Grok 4, the use of tools is not an additional “plugin”; rather, it is directly integrated into the model itself. This means that, as it responds, it can independently determine which solutions to leverage in order to deliver the best possible answer. For example:

• Live internet search (including social media): If your favorite team happens to be playing today and you ask, “Who is winning?” Grok 4 will not fabricate a response (in theory); instead, it will access the internet, search for the score, and provide you with real-time information. Furthermore, it does not search strictly by keyword—it also employs semantic search (comprehending the intent of the query) and can even search for and analyze images or videos.
• Formulates its own searches: If you pose an ambiguous question, it can devise multiple queries, evaluate them, and choose the one most likely to yield useful information. In a real-world example, when the AI was asked, “What was that strange meme of a crossword puzzle with leg parts?” Grok 4 launched several searches, refined filters (by date, number of “likes”), and cross-referenced results until it found the exact post.
• Advanced calculator and programmer: If you request that it calculate how much your investment would grow if you contribute €200 per month at 5% annual interest over 15 years, it will not simply estimate—the tool will open its Python interpreter, compute each step, and provide you with the precise figure.
• Daily news summary: There is an integrated “Latest News” option that performs a web search and delivers a summary of the day’s most important news. The result includes a list of headlines and summaries for each story, as well as links to the referenced articles.

• Advanced image editing: It also features the ability to modify images by changing backgrounds, enhancing quality, reinterpreting original content, editing and/or removing people displayed, among other functionalities.

If you prefer, you may speak to it as if you were on a call and receive a response in a natural-sounding voice, so fluent that it closely resembles a real person. Additionally, if you activate your camera during your conversation, it will be capable of describing what it sees in real time: for example, it might say, “I see that you are at a train station; according to the screen, your train departs in 12 minutes.”

You may also modify the interface appearance, specify whether or not your data should be used to train Grok’s models, enable or disable features such as autocomplete, and more.

More tokens and active memory

Grok 4 can remember up to 256,000 tokens in a single conversation (where each token may represent a letter, word, or word segment), which translates to thousands of pages of text. This means you could provide an entire 500-page report and request an analysis without breaking it into segments, unlike previous versions that would become unresponsive when presented with lengthy texts for analysis.

It can also recall everything you have discussed for hours and continue to use that information throughout your interaction.

In the well-known evaluations to which all new artificial intelligence models are subjected, Grok 4 has achieved outstanding results. While this may be less relevant for users without a programming background, here is a straightforward summary of the scores attained by this artificial intelligence in various disciplines:

• Latest humanity exam: Designed to be nearly impossible, it achieved a 50.7% score—a historic record.
• Mathematics: In competitions such as USAMO’25 and HMMT’25, it attained scores close to 100%.
• Competitive programming: It solved coding problems of such complexity that even experienced human programmers require several hours to complete them.
• Abstract reasoning: In ARC-AGI-2, it doubled the next closest competitor’s score.

It is as if a student achieved honors in all the most challenging subjects, from mathematics to programming and logic.

How to Access Grok 4 for Free

There are two ways to access Grok 4:

• From your X account: Simply log in to the social network, select the Grok logo on the left menu, then choose the “Expert” option. A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to click “Try now.” You will be taken directly to the chat with Grok 4.

• Alternatively, by visiting the Grok website using your Google account, or by creating a new username and password.

Organizations may also integrate Grok into their websites, apps, or internal systems via API in order to answer questions, retrieve data, or analyze documents in real time. In fact, Grok 4 is delivered with privacy and security certifications (SOC 2, GDPR, CCPA), making it suitable for sectors that handle sensitive data, such as banking or healthcare.

While you will be able to use all the features, its usage is limited to 10 queries every 12 hours. To increase this limit, you need to subscribe to Grok Premium+ (44.60 € per month with no long-term commitment), SuperGrok, or SuperGrok Heavy ($300 per month).
