Canva has decided to reverse course and partially adjust its new pricing policy for its Teams plan. This morning, the design platform notified its long-time users that, in recognition of their loyalty, they will continue paying the original Canva Teams rate.

“As a special thank you for your loyalty and support over the years, we will maintain the original price for your current team. You will continue enjoying the rate you have now without needing to do anything,” explained the email sent by Canva.

In addition to rewarding its most loyal users, this decision is likely also motivated by the wave of criticism the Australian company faced after announcing its controversial and steep price increase at the end of last August.

Canva’s Pricing Promise

Along with this announcement, Canva has introduced its new “Pricing Promise,” a philosophy aimed at guiding its future pricing decisions while ensuring “fair and transparent prices for our entire community.” This approach emphasizes transparency, fairness, and accessibility.

“Creating a product loved by more than 190 million people is the foundation of everything we do. It’s this passion that underscores our mission to empower the world to design and our commitment to continue developing Canva alongside all of you,” the platform stated.

Canva’s pricing promise outlines the following commitments:

  1. Always at an affordable price: Canva pledges to continue offering a range of affordable plans for everyone, whether in premium options or free plans for individuals, nonprofits, or educational institutions.
  2. Added value: The company will continuously invest in features and improvements to ensure users enjoy the best experience. As Canva grows, it will provide more tools for everyone.
  3. Transparent and timely communication: Canva promises to always provide at least 60 days’ notice of any price changes, giving users ample time to plan.
  4. Fair prices tailored to the country: Prices will be adjusted to reflect the economic conditions of each country, ensuring Canva remains accessible to everyone, no matter where they live.
  5. No hidden fees: Users will always pay the price they see published. Canva commits to offering clear prices with no hidden costs.
