Ani and Bad Rudy, the controversial companions of Grok represent Elon Musk’s latest eccentricity

A hypersexualized girl and a violent red panda are the new (and controversial) avatars from xAI for SuperGrok subscribers.

As if the already controversial Grok were not enough, xAI has just introduced its two new and controversial companions: Ani and Bad Rudy. The first is a female avatar designed in a highly sexualized anime style who speaks in whispers, and the second is a red panda dressed in a hoodie who enjoys insulting others and proposing ideas that run counter to all ethical and moral boundaries.

These “companions” are available to individuals subscribed to SuperGrok and offer a NSFW version (Not Safe For Work), which can only be accessed by leveling up after considerable interaction with the respective avatar.

It is worth noting that there is a possibility of adjusting Bad Rudy to simply be Rudy. In this way, the problematic character is transformed into a kinder version of himself.

These AI characters will soon be joined by another male companion. To generate excitement around this launch, Musk has already posted a tweet asking his audience what the new character should be named. It is important to point out that this upcoming companion is neither hypersexualized nor exhibits a childlike appearance, unlike Ani.

Hypersexualization, Disconnection from Reality, and Violence

The Grok companions are yet another example of how something that could be used for multiple beneficial purposes—in this case, AI—ends up being used for the exact opposite. Let us examine the situation in detail.

The character of Ani depicts a young woman dressed in tight, extremely short clothing, so much so that, when she moves, her underwear can be seen. Furthermore, she speaks in a childish tone and does so quietly, reminiscent of ASMR. Of course, her attitude is subservient and seductive, and, upon reaching a certain level, she remains in her underwear and becomes even more “provocative.” In short, Ani is a compilation of clichés that reduce women to mere sexual objects who submit to the will of others—in this case, the users who interact with her.

This is not only harmful because it perpetuates a commodified image of women, but also because it can lead to serious mental health issues for those who see Ani as “the perfect girlfriend.” Loneliness, frustration, and a disconnection from reality are some of the potential consequences associated with excessive use of this AI.

For his part, Bad Rudy represents the danger of promoting violent or hate-inciting messages. This character does not hesitate to attack anyone and suggest all sorts of criminal acts affecting any group, population, religion, or culture.

If, in recent weeks, there has been significant controversy surrounding Grok’s lack of control (offensive comments, references to an alleged “white genocide” in South Africa, antisemitic responses, etc.), now we also have Bad Rudy. This only exposes the irresponsibility of xAI and Musk himself for releasing a volatile AI in a space such as Twitter, which certainly does not require further fuel for hate speech.

Musk Intends to Bring the “Companions” into the Physical World

Of course, given Elon Musk’s obsession with developing humanoid robots, it was to be expected that his plans would include integrating these AI personalities into physical machines.

In response to a user’s tweet expressing “one big step closer to anime girls becoming real“, Musk replied, Optimus will enable them to be physically real.

Once again, Elon Musk has opened the doors to his fantasies and, once again, it would have been preferable if they had remained firmly closed. Under lock and key.
