OpenAI is building a very strong network of partnerships, and the latest company it has formed an alliance with is none other than Adobe. Both technology companies have announced the launch of the Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Adobe Acrobat applications for ChatGPT, allowing the 800 million monthly users of this AI chatbot to design and edit simply by describing what they wish to accomplish through prompts.
Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Acrobat for ChatGPT are free of charge for ChatGPT users worldwide and are available for desktop, web, and iOS. Additionally, Adobe Express for ChatGPT is also available on Android, and Photoshop and Acrobat for ChatGPT on Android will be launched soon.
David Wadhwani, President of Digital Media at Adobe, states: “We are excited to bring Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Acrobat directly to ChatGPT, combining our creative innovations with the ease-of-use of ChatGPT to make creativity accessible to everyone. Now, hundreds of millions of people can edit using Photoshop simply by expressing their intent in their own words, within a platform that is already part of their daily lives“.
The Adobe applications for ChatGPT are designed to enable anyone, whether or not they have previous experience with Adobe tools, to unleash their creativity. In this way, many popular features are accessible both through the conversational interface and via interactive tools that will be displayed on screen (such as Photoshop sliders for adjusting image brightness or contrast).
To start using these applications, you simply need to type the name of the specific tool followed by the prompt with the instructions you wish to provide. For example, if you would like to blur the background of an image with Photoshop, you may write: “Adobe Photoshop, help me blur the background of this image“. In response, ChatGPT will automatically display the application and will use its contextual understanding to guide you through the process.
The simplicity of this process promotes a very short learning curve and enables Adobe to reach more users with its products, thereby increasing its market penetration. Thus, those who begin using these tools within ChatGPT are more likely to eventually transition to Adobe’s native applications.
These advancements are based on Adobe’s ongoing innovation in the field of conversational experiences powered by agentic AI and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Likewise, the integration of its applications in ChatGPT is not the only step Adobe has recently taken regarding development and innovation. At the beginning of the year, it launched Acrobat Studio, which is capable of transforming work documents into interactive, AI-powered workspaces. Later, in October, during its Adobe MAX event, the company introduced AI Assistants for Photoshop and Adobe Express that enable anyone to create using their own words. In addition, Adobe also previewed its upcoming AI Assistant for Adobe Firefly, capable of turning ideas into finished content and working seamlessly across several Adobe applications and beyond.
